The second-hand marketplace Members Express Anger Regarding Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Earlier, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Required Changes
Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
